EleksTube reimagines the warm glow of vintage nixie tubes through modern IPS display technology — building desktop objects that feel nostalgic but never fragile, beautiful but never impractical.
Our Story
We love real nixie tubes. The problem is, they're nearly a century old — rare, fragile, power-hungry, and slowly disappearing from the world. Every working tube is one closer to being the last.
In 2023, our small team of engineers and designers in Tokyo asked a simple question: what if we could preserve that glow without burning through the last remaining tubes?
The answer became EleksTube — six high-definition IPS LCD screens encased in quartz glass tubes, flawlessly simulating the warm, floating glow of classic nixie digits. No high voltage. No burnout. Just the aesthetic, made durable.
What We Make
EleksTube isn't just a clock. It's a category of modern desktop objects that bridge retro craftsmanship and contemporary engineering:
- EleksTube IPS Series — our flagship nixie-style clocks, from the original IPS Classic to the CNC-machined aluminum IPS PRO.
- NK Series — aircraft-inspired toggle switch USB hubs (now succeeded by MK5).
- T10 Series — RGB glow-tube rhythm lamps that react to sound.
Every product ships with WiFi time sync, open firmware, and a growing library of user-customizable clock faces.
Designed in Tokyo, Built for Desks Worldwide
Our design studio is based in Tokyo. From here, every product is prototyped, photographed, and quality-tested before it ships to customers in 40+ countries.
Three principles guide every decision we make:
- Warmth over wow. A desk object you live with for years matters more than one that shocks you for five minutes.
- Durable nostalgia. Modern internals. Classic exterior. No compromise on either.
- Open, not locked. Our firmware is hackable. Our community is welcome to build on top.
The Community That Builds With Us
Since the first EleksTube shipped, a global community of makers has built custom firmware, custom clock faces, and third-party tooling on GitHub. We don't fight it — we celebrate it.
If you're a tinkerer, solder-iron-lover, or ESP32 nerd, you're home here. Most of our products are built on ESP32 with open, inspectable firmware.
